Ying-Chih Chang

Ying-Chih Chang is the Chair of the Taiwan Science and Technology Hub @Stanford. She currently serves as the co-Founder and CEO of Acrocyte Therapeutics, Inc., an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering at Stanford University, and the Developmental Biology and Regenerative Medicine Center at the National Taiwan University. She is also a Member of the Board of Trustees of Kaohsiung Medical University, and Chang Chau-Ting Memorial Foundation in Taiwan. Formerly, she was a Professor at the Genomics Research Center, Academia Sinica (2004-2024), Taiwan, and an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering University of California-Irvine (1999-2003). She received her PhD from Stanford University (1998) and BS-MS from National Taiwan University (1992), both in Chemical Engineering. 

Dr. Chang’s invention has led to multiple patents and successful licensing, including co-founding Acrocyte Therapeutics, an organoid-based precision medicine company, and CellMax Life, a cancer diagnostic company. She and her team have been recognized by Young Investigator Award (Whitaker Foundation), FDA breakthrough device designation for pre-cancer and cancer detection (USA 2021), Future Tech Award (Taiwan 2021), 18th National Innovation Award (Taiwan 2021), and the Finalist at Startup Stadium at BIO 2024, among others. Her research interests include multi-dimensional material assembly for tissue engineering, circulating tumor cell 3D culture for cancer diagnostics and precision medicine. She has also devoted her time to K-12 STEM education and comprehensive scientific and technological cooperation between Taiwan and the United States.
