Wesley Chu

Chen-Tso (Wesley) Chu is an Executive Advisor at the Stanford Taiwan Science and Technology Hub, and a Research Fellow at the Ash Center, Harvard Kennedy School. He is a licensed attorney in Taiwan and mainland China, specializing in AI regulation, data governance, and global supply-chain compliance. He serves as Secretary-General of the International AI and Law Research Foundation and Deputy Chair of the Taiwan Bar Association’s Technology Law Committee. He also writes as a columnist for Commonwealth Magazine and Global Views Monthly.

Wesley previously served as General Counsel at Sharp Corporation (Japan) and Foxconn Technology Corporation (Taiwan), leading legal teams across Asia, the United States, and Europe. In 2024, he was a Visiting Scholar at Stanford Law School and a Senior Fellow at the Stanford Taiwan Science and Technology Hub.

He co-founded the International AI and Law Research Foundation in 2019, which has published five books and over 100 academic articles. In 2024, he co-drafted Taiwan’s first AI Basic Law. Wesley holds an LL.B. from Soochow University, an LL.M. from National Taiwan Ocean University, and a Ph.D. in Law from Tsinghua University (Beijing).
