Event Description
In 2025, the global landscape of technology and trade is undergoing a significant transformation. According to the latest Global AI Index Report released by Stanford HAI, the technological gap between the U.S. and China is rapidly narrowing, primarily due to the rise of China's open-source models, such as Deepseek, which are reshaping global innovation strategies.
At the same time, the U.S. policies heightened tariffs and export control measures are placing unprecedented pressure on supply chains, particularly in critical sectors like AI servers, semiconductors, and advanced manufacturing.
Amidst the intensifying technological competition and increasingly restrictive trade policies, both the U.S. and Asia-Pacific economies face the urgent challenge of reassessing their strategies regarding technology sovereignty, supply chain resilience, and regional collaboration.
This closed-door round-table will bring together 12 distinguished experts from 7 countries and from industry, government, academia, and research to explore strategic responses to these two pressing challenges.
Primary Objectives
- Analyze the evolving dynamics of global AI competition and the impact of open-source models on global innovation
- Assess the implications of global tariff and export control policies for supply chain security and corporate compliance
- Explore regional cooperation mechanisms to address the challenges posed by technological and trade fragmentation
- Foster strategic dialogue among cross-disciplinary experts to shape future action agendas
